Hi, I’m Jeanne.

I’m the owner of Sweet Briar Counseling, PLLC. I love meeting a new client and bearing witness to their life experiences. I’m warm and I hope to put you at ease, but I promise not to just smile and nod through your session. I am gentle but direct, and I bring my authentic self into the room. I work best with clients who are ready for something to change.

I’ve done a lot of work treating child trauma, specifically trauma caused by abuse. I am trained in several trauma-informed treatments. I’ll list those below if you’re interested in the specifics. I have also worked with adults of all ages, couples, and adolescents. I love to work with parents to connect with their children and experience more ease in their relationship. I also love to help clients unearth their authentic selves, and learn how to manage and understand emotions. I’ve been a yoga teacher, and I use somatic therapy practices to help clients connect their bodies and minds, especially relating to trauma.

I highly value counseling. I put that into action in my own life by attending counseling myself. I am no stranger to hard work. I grew up on a farm in South Dakota, and have worked in food service, leadership development, property management, college admissions, and community organization. I attended Minnesota State University Moorhead, then settled in Bismarck with my husband, Stephen. We recently became Mandan residents, and live here with our two children.

I am trained in and informed by the following modalities:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT)

  • Developmental Needs Meeting System

  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Trained in Level 1 & Level 2)

  • Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200)

  • ChildLight Children’s Yoga (certified)

  • Problematic Sexual Behavior Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) (certified)
